Gaidheil – Scottish Gaelic Speakers

According to statistics, somewhere between 60,000 and 80,000 speak Scottish Gaelic in Scotland. However, recent studies suggest that the interest and involvement in the language might be over 150,000 worldwide. Though exact statistics are not available specifically on the Gaelic-speaking population, it is likely that the Gaidheil are the most evangelized of the Celtic languages people groups. However, many Gaelic-speaking churches are experiencing decline, especially when it comes to younger members, who are moving to the larger cities (outside of the Gaelic-speaking areas) for university and work.
